William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-on-Avon, a small town about 80 miles northwest of London, England. The region is named Warwickshire and is considered "the heart of England." The area is lovely and provided the background and inspiration for much of his poetry and plays.
His birth home still stands today and is visited by thousands of tourists every year. They can see an excellently-preserved example of the architecture and living conditions of the day. Also located nearby is the childhood of Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway.
Shakespeare tomb is in the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-on-Avon. Also buried with him are his wife and other members of his family.
