Emika "Emi" Chen

Emika Chen is a strong, determined, and well-loved female lead character whom readers want to see succeed. She barely survived the Warcross Championships from book one of the series, Warcross. After having only days to recover, she finds herself torn between love and ethics when she discovers that Hideo, her love interest from book one, has created a new NeuroLink algorithm aimed at controlling the world population. She runs away and faces a bounty on her head as a result. She then teams up with Zero, a mysterious hacker outlaw and lead member of the Blackcoats crew, for protection. Emika is strong-willed and will do anything to stand up for her values. She faces numerous difficult decisions throughout the book, but she handles them well and stays loyal to her friends.

Hideo Tanaka

Hideo is a complicated character who justifies evil with righteous motivation, trying to find out what happened to his missing brother, Sasuke. He is also the creator of and mastermind behind Warcross, the focus of book one. By using his new NeuroLink algorithm to control the free will of most of the planet, Hideo hopes to end crime. While many have died because of his algorithm, he truly believes it is for the greater good. He wants to ensure that what happened to his brother never happens to another family.
