Student Question
Does Bella attack Edward after their first kiss in "Twilight" Chapter 13, contrary to Edward's statement in Chapter 15?
"Yesterday I kiss you, and you attack me" - Edward
Quick answer:
In Chapter 13 of Twilight, Bella does not literally attack Edward after their first kiss. Instead, she instinctively leans into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck and weaving her hands through his hair. This passionate response is dangerous for Edward, as it challenges his self-control due to his intense attraction to her. Edward's statement in Chapter 15 is a metaphorical expression of this challenge.
She doesn't literally attack him. She is just so attracted to him that when he tries to kiss her, she lets her instincts take over and she leans into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck and weaving her hands through his hair. This is, of course, dangerous because it is very difficult for Edward to control himself around her, much less when she is so willing to be close to him.
