Student Question

In "Breaking Dawn", what was Bella's plan for Renesmee if she and Edward died?

Quick answer:

Bella planned to send Renesmee away with Jacob if she and Edward died during the Volturi attack. Knowing Jacob's protective bond with Renesmee, Bella trusted him to keep her safe. She arranged for passports and identification documents for Jacob and Renesmee, and packed a duffel bag with these documents, a letter, and cash. Bella intended for Jacob to escape with Renesmee when the situation became too dangerous.

Bella knew that the possibility of she and Edward not surviving the attack of the Volturi was great. She began making arrangements early on. Bell decided that she would send Renesmee with the one person that could protect her best...Jacob. She went to the Cullen family lawyer and acquired identification documents for both Jacob and Renesmee. She put those documents in a duffel bag along with a letter and enough cash to get them to safety. Her plan was to give the bag to Jacob just before things got too intense and Jacob would escape (while still in wolf form) with Renesmee.

Bella planned on sending Renesmee away with Jacob. Since Jacob had phased on Renesmee, Bella knew that he would do whatever he had to in order to keep her safe. She had gotten passports and forged documents for the two to escape with, and had let Renesmee see a glimpse in her mind of what she had planned.
