Scout was angry at both her Aunt Alexandra and at Jem during Chapter 14 of To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout was busy explaining to Atticus that she and Jem were coming back from Calpurnia's church when Atticus returned home on the previous Sunday. She excitedly told him that Calpurnia had said it was okay for the children to come visit her home in the Quarters. When Scout asked Atticus if they could go next Sunday, Alexandra answered for him.

"You may not."

Scout "wheeled around" and told Alexandra, "I didn't ask you!"

For a big man, Atticus could get up and down from a chair faster than anyone I ever knew. He was on his feet. "Apologize to your aunt," he said.

Atticus made it clear that Scout would do anything requested by Alexandra as long as she was living there. This did not sit well with Scout, who considered running away from home--"Immediately."

Jem then became angry at Jem, who had ordered her to stop antagonizing their aunt. Their argument turned into a fight, which Atticus had to break up.
