Peshawar is a busy frontier city, the capital of untamed western Pakistan and “gateway to the Khyber Pass.” It is the pipeline between Afghanistan and Pakistan through which Taliban forces (literally, students of Islam) head west, and refugees tired of the fighting travel east.
