Peshawar is a busy frontier city, the capital of untamed western Pakistan and “gateway to the Khyber Pass.” It is the pipeline between Afghanistan and Pakistan through which Taliban forces (literally, students of Islam) head west, and refugees tired of the fighting travel east. The seventeenth son of a wealthy Saudi family, Osama Bin Laden is forced to leave his home country and he flees to Afghanistan and seethes in his hatred for Americans, the people he blames for his exile.
