Antone returns as narrator. After the wedding, he and Geraldine get into a decorated car and go to the Knights of Columbus hall, where there is a wedding reception and a cake. On the top of the cake are a pair of personalized figurines Evelina has made.

The pair have decided to save up and have their real honeymoon later, so they simply go home, make love, and eat wedding cake.

Afterward, Antone thinks about the Milk family and how they have accepted the marriage. He is sure that they know he was once involved with a married woman in Pluto. Geraldine has never been told about this incident, which began when Antone was in high school. Antone is sure she knows something of it, though, and is grateful that she has never mentioned it.

Antone lies in his marriage bed feeling very grateful, because once he felt he would never love anyone but his first love, C.
