Dr. Sivarnandan is always surprised to see Salander spend most of her Sundays with Holmgren. They spend several hours playing chess, and she never treats the older man as an invalid; instead, they seem to squabble quite regularly and comfortably. The doctor does not understand the peculiar young woman who seems so suspicious and humorless and secretive. She created a non-profit foundation with 2.5 million kroner dedicated solely to the care of Palmgren.
