An illustration of the letter 'A' in a speech bubbles

Some of the houses in Lake Windsor Downs have been infested with termites. This unwelcome invasion by these destructive little critters has meant that exterminators have had to be called in. They need to fumigate all the affected properties to get rid of the termites; otherwise, they'll chew their way through the wooden walls and furniture, leaving houses and their contents utterly ruined.

So why is all this happening? Why, on top of all the other problems in this neighborhood—such as underground fires and lightning strikes—are termites threatening to eat so many people out of their homes? As Wayne discovers, it's because the developers, in their infinite wisdom, set all the citrus trees on fire and plowed them underground when they cleared the land for building the new houses.

Wood, of course, attracts termites, and so the termites crawl out of the ground where they've been feeding off the burned remnants of the citrus trees and into the new homes, which are built of wood. The termites also need to come to the surface to find water, which attracts them to people's homes, where they will always find a regular supply. Once there, they bury their little jaws deep into the wooden walls and furniture and proceed to cause merry havoc.
