Traditions are the passing down of elements of a culture from one generation to the next, especially by the spoken word. A mode of thought or behavior followed by people like a custom. A body of unwritten religious practices that influence the present generation. Traditions are known as time honored practices.

All people are influenced by traditions. Each generation passes down beliefs and practices to the next. Families can follow tradition, schools can follow tradition, organizations can follow tradition. Your family may follow the tradition of putting up a tree at Christmas. Your school may follow the tradition of having the "prom" every winter. The Lion's Club may follow the tradition of selling light bulbs every spring, etc.
