Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense by N.T. Wright is a meditation on why the author believes Christianity is still relevant and can help solve the big questions in life. Many of the quotes in the book reflect the sense of mystery and understanding through feeling that the author finds as an Anglican priest.

There should be plenty of passages from the book that you can use in any assignment characterizing the book, such as this one that says that arguments about God are:

. . . like pointing a flashlight toward the sky to see if the sun is shining.

In other words, the focus should be on God and not about arguing. Wright further expands on this point by writing:

Many of the questions we ask God can’t be answered directly, not because God doesn’t know the answers, but because our questions don’t make sense.

Wright admits early in the book that the desire for justice or the quest for being spiritual don’t count as absolute proofs for God, but they do represent “echoes” that point in the direction of the Christian God.

A number of passages in Wright’s book point to this rejection of science and materialism as a sole source of truth. He further writes:

When Jesus’ followers asked him to teach them to pray, he didn’t tell them to divide into focus groups and look deep within their own hearts.

This attitude towards scientific thought, at least on what Wright regards as a spiritual level, is pervasive, and these passages and others should aid you in writing about it in any way you choose.
