How did the battles of Gettysburg and Vicksburg relate to each other?

These two battles are related to one another in two ways.  First, they both ended at just about the same time.  The Battle of Gettysburg ended on July 3, 1863 and the Siege of Vicksburg ended the very next day.  Second, both of these battles were major turning points in the war.  The Battle of Gettysburg stopped Lee's invasion of the North.  If Lee had been able to continue his invasion, the North might have given up the war.  Meanwhile, the Battle of Vicksburg gave the North complete control of the Mississippi River.  This cut the South in half and badly damaged Southern morale.
