Chromotography benefits and disadvantages

Does anyone know how to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using chromatography to analyse materials (all materials if possiable)?

Chromatography is actually a collection of different techniques. These techniques are excellent for identifying the composition of materials, and in most cases only a small sample is required for analysis. The main disadvantages are the fact that the equipment is quite expensive, and the sample is destroyed in the process of analysis.
