Let the length of the rectangle be L. Its length is 2 more than the width. So width  = L - 2

The area of the rectangle is L*(L - 2)

When the dimensions are increased by 2, the area is increased by 48 .

(L + 2)*L - L*( L - 2) = 48

=> L^2 + 2L - L^2 + 2L = 48

=> 4L = 48

=> L = 12

Width = 10

The dimensions of the rectangle are 10 and 12.
