Prince Caspian is the first book in a series centered around Caspian X. In this story, he is a young boy residing in a vast fortress with his uncle, Miraz. Caspian's father, who was the king and Miraz's brother, was killed by Miraz, who then seized the throne. As a result, Prince Caspian is the legitimate ruler of Narnia, while Miraz is an illegitimate usurper. Initially, Miraz appears willing to groom Caspian as his heir, but after his wife gives birth to a son, Miraz decides to eliminate Caspian. The Prince flees into the night on a dangerous journey toward Archenland. However, he doesn't anticipate encountering the Old Narnians in the southern forest, where some Talking Trees knock him off his horse, leaving him at the mercy of those who have the greatest reason to despise him and the other Telmarine humans who have governed Narnia for ten generations.
