How did Percy, Annabeth, and Grover plan to fund their journey?

Quick answer:

Percy, Annabeth, and Grover funded their journey initially with a loan from the Camp Half-Blood store. They then took money from Medusa's lair after defeating her. Grover befriended a poodle named Gladiola, who allowed them to claim a $200 reward for his return. Additionally, Ares gave Percy a backpack containing some money after they retrieved his shield from a booby-trapped water park.

First, the store at Camp Half-blood loaned them some money to get started on their journey. Then they were able to take a bit of money from Medusa's barbecue restaurant after they chopped off her head. After this, Grover made friends with a little poodle named Gladiola, and the poodle told him that his owners were offering a $200 reward for his return. Although Gladiola did not particularly want to return to his home, because Grover had been so nice to him, he was willing to let them take him back and get the reward money to continue their journey. After this, when Ares gave Percy the backpack after the kids retrieved Ares's shield from the abandoned water park that Hephaestus had booby trapped, there was a bit of money in it.
