This initiative failed due to widespread distrust of Catholicism in rural Oklahoma. Despite this, one elderly nun insisted on staying, accompanied by her protege and rival, Consolata. As such, it was never truly a convent in the traditional sense, even though nuns lived there and unsuccessfully attempted to remove the mansion's obscene statues. Furthermore, it no longer houses nuns in a religious sense, yet a metaphorical or spiritual sisterhood seems to be developing there, despite ongoing conflicts between Mavis and Gigi.
