Why does "Ode to Psyche" appeal to us?

This poem appeals to us because it is about love, loss and revenge. These emotions, that partly define human experience, are timeless. The love story is between Eros, or Cupid and the most beautiful, Psyche.  The Goddess of Love, Venus, the mother of Eros is jealous of Psyche because of her great beauty.

The meaning, or understanding of love fascinates each of us.  We are drawn to Keats poetry to look through the poet's eyes at what he thought love meant to him in the Romantic Period, 1798-1832.
