Dogberry and Verges go to Leonato and, after irritating him with their small talk, inform him about Borachio and Conrade, who need to be questioned.

Before leaving for the wedding, Leonato orders Dogberry and Verges to conduct an examination and then share the results with him.

At Dogberry’s order, Verges leaves to summon the sextant, Francis Seacol, so that he can record the examination.
