In "The Most Dangerous Game," what equipment does Rainsford use to survive?

Before General Zaroff begins hunting Rainsford throughout Ship-Trap Island, he has Ivan provide Sanger with khaki hunting clothes, a haversack of food, and a long-bladed hunting knife. These are the only items at Rainsford's disposal for the three-day "game." While Rainsford is armed with a simple hunting knife, the general carries a small caliber pistol and has expert hunting dogs at his disposal. What weapon does Rainsford carry during the hunt in "The Most Dangerous Game"?

General Zaroff only gives Rainsford a small supply of food and a hunting knife during the most dangerous game. Rainsford is also given a three-hour head start and must survive on Ship-Trap Island for three days in order to win the game. General Zaroff has expert knowledge of the island and hunts Rainsford using the smallest caliber pistol. The general is also allowed to use his pack of tracking dogs and his servant, Ivan. Without a gun or in-depth knowledge of his surroundings, Rainsford is at a severe disadvantage and must rely on his skills as a survivalist and expert hunter. Rainsford ends up using the hunting knife to chop down several trees, sharpen sticks, and build traps in order to slow down and injure the general. Fortunately, Rainsford proves that he is a better hunter by surviving three days on the island and defeating General Zaroff in hand-to-hand combat at the end of the story.
