48 and 60 have to be expressed as a product of their prime factors.
Write each of the numbers as a product of a prime and another number starting with the smallest prime number 2 and moving to larger prime numbers.
48 = 2*24
= 2*3*8
= 2*3*2^3
= 2^4*3
60 = 2*30
= 2*3*10
= 2*3*2*5
= 2^2*3*5
The prime factorization of 48 is 2^4*3 and for 60 it is 2^2*3*5
48 as a product of its prime factors is 2^4. 3 (or 2.2.2.2.3)
60 as a product of its prime factors is 2^2.3.5 (or 2.2.3.5)
Remember prime factors are those numbers that can only be divided by themselves and 1; for example, 3 can only be divided by 3 and by 1. You won't find 3 as an answer in any other times table.
So do a mini division sum whenever you have to find prime factors and start with the smallest number that goes into the number you are looking for prime factors for....so for example try 2 and if that won't work (because it's an odd number ), try 3. If 3 won't work try 5 or 7 or 11 ,13,17,19,23,and so on remembering not to use a number that appears in any other times table except its own!
Good luck.
