In act 4, scene 1, Macbeth meets with the Three Witches again to receive more prophecies about his future, which will hopefully ease his mind and assure him that he will remain King of Scotland. After Macbeth demands that the witches tell him what he wants to know, they offer him several seemingly favorable prophecies. However, the first apparition, which is the image of a head wearing an armored helmet, offers Macbeth a foreboding prophecy by saying,
Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff. Beware the thane of Fife.
Macbeth responds by saying that the apparition has confirmed what he has feared. Unfortunately, Macbeth is not able to ask any additional questions. The next two prophecies provide Macbeth with a false sense of security and confidence. In act 5, scene 8, the prophecy regarding Macduff comes to fruition when Macbeth comes face-to-face with him during the final battle. After announcing that he was "Untimely ripped" from his mother's womb, Macduff proceeds to decapitate Macbeth.
