Arsat, a great warrior, falls in love with Diamelen, the concubine of a respected chief. He hatches a bold plan that will allow them to be together. While the rest of the village is busy fishing, Arsat and his brother meet Diamelen at the river and sneak away under cover of night.

However, this incident incites the chief to form a war party and hunt the brothers down for their betrayal. In order to give the couple a chance to escape, Arsat’s brother holds off the attackers, but the decision costs him his life. The incident forces Arsat to choose between defending his brother and his honor as a warrior and abandoning this way of life for the woman he loves. Neither path can spare him shame and guilt.
