In the story “How to Date a Browngirl,” Yunior is a static character rather than a dynamic one. He may be disguising past interactions with specific girls by not providing any girls’ names. His generalizations about their traits as linked to color or ethnicity may reflect the way girls have reacted to him. If he were successful in going on a date with any of these girls, he might change as a result.
