That evening, Vivaldi visits Altieri with a physician to examine Bianchi’s corpse. While Vivaldi is convinced that Bianchi has been poisoned, the physician is less certain, proving more inclined to believe that the cause of her death was natural. Vivaldi returns home with a sense of comfort that Bianchi did not pass away prematurely.
