Why did the workers go to the tent revival even though they were tired?
Good question. Doesn't it seem like they'd just fall over asleep after working as hard as they did?

However, they went to the tent revival for several reasons. First and most simply, they believed in it. They believed that they needed to, as one woman says in the book, feed the soul the same way you feed the Bible.

There are other reasons. They enjoyed revivals as social events, both adults and kids. They liked the break in the routine. And, sadly, religion was one of the only things offering this community a promise of a better tomorrow.
