Laughter Summary

Unlike Lucy and Rachel, Esperanza and Nenny do not look like sisters. However, there are similarities between them which are not immediately apparent—for instance, the sound of their laughter, which is “like a pile of dishes breaking.” Once, when the girls were passing a house, Esperanza said that its appearance made her think of Mexico. Rachel and Lucy did not understand, but Nenny agreed immediately.
