The House of Broken Angels is the story of Big Angel De La Cruz. He and his family are from La Paz, Mexico and live between there and San Diego. It is a story of immigration, survival, and family. Big Angel is preparing himself and his family for a “double header” weekend. He has terminal cancer and is in the final days of his life. He has plans to throw himself one last big birthday party and is still in the process of breaking the news to his family. His mother, Mama America, unexpectedly passes and he must now plan for her funeral too. The funeral and birthday party are to be held back to back. Both end up being joyful celebrations of life as Big Angel reflects on many joyous moments. He and his wife Perla remain deeply in love after years of marriage. Their desire for one another is palpable. Big Angel and his family are brought closer by these two events. Big Angel remains joyous until the very end.
