Emmett Till was a black 14-year-old who was murdered in 1955. He had been accused of having whistled at a white woman, Carolyn Bryant. As a result, Carolyn's husband and his brother kidnapped Emmett. They beat him, tortured him, and killed him. However, neither of the men got sentenced for this murder, as they got acquitted by a jury, which consisted only of white members.
In order to see what the similarities and differences are with regard to the recent George Floyd case, you could explain that the main similarity is of course the fact that both George and Emmett were Black and both were killed by White men. The fact that both cases were racially motivated clearly links them.
However, the main difference between these two cases is the fact that George Floyd died at the hands of the police: a police officer knelt on his neck, which led to George struggling to breathe. George pleaded for help, saying "I can't breathe," yet the police officer did not move. Emmett, on the other hand, was not killed by a police officer, he was kidnapped and killed by a civilian.
Another important difference you might want to look at is the fact that George Floyd had been accused of having used a counterfeit bill. He died immediately in the process of being arrested. The kidnap and murder of Emmett, on the other hand, took place a couple of days after the alleged disrespectful treatment of Carolyn Bryant.
