When the sun starts to rise on the morning after Brian's crash, he is beset by insects. Hordes of them cover him completely and threaten to make their way into his mouth and nostrils when he breathes. Many of the insects bite him, looking for any available inch of skin to feast on.

Brian fights with his torn clothes to try to fully cover himself, but every time he covers one place he simply creates a new place for the insects to attack. Eventually he runs out of ideas, so he resigns himself to sit through it and endure all the agony, although it almost brings him to tears.

Finally, the sun rises the rest of the way, and the bugs suddenly disperse and leave Brian to reflect on their horrors.
