Why is Frankenstein's monster's suicide plan unrealistic?

He vanishes at the end of the book, planning to run away to the frozen north and burn himself on a funeral pyre. It's mainly realistic due to practical matters: the amount of readily accessible firewood in the Arctic is seriously limited, and keeping a big fire going by yourself, in the wind, snow, and ice, is hard.
