This is a good question. I've had many setback and today I am proud to say that these setbacks have made me into a better person. Let me give you an example of what I am talking about.

When I was a child, I had to overcome a few learning disabilities. I had trouble reading and speaking well. However, I went to a school, which did not diagnose these things. This was partially due to the small size of the school, but also because people rarely talked about learning disabilities those days.

One day, I realized that my peers were accelerating and that I was not. So, I decided to study harder and harder. It was difficult and at times very frustrating, but after a few years I caught up. After a few more years of disciplined study, I finished college and graduate school and now I teach at a college. Most importantly I learned that suffering produces perseverance, and this perseverance produces character. I am thankful for the hardships.
