Ernest Hemingway committed suicide in Ketchum, Idaho by shooting himself in the mouth with a shotgun on July 2, 1961. He was disconsolate because of failing health.
Clarence Hemingway, Ernest's father, shot himself with his father's handgun on December 6, 1928. His son, Leicester, was apparently the first to find him, dying in his bed.
Leicester Hemingway, Ernest's brother, committed suicide in 1982 after complications of Type II Diabetes.
Ursula Hemingway, Ernest's sister, deliberately overdosed on drugs on October 30, 1966. She was suffering from cancer and depression.
Margaux Hemingway, 41, Ernest's granddaughter, overdosed on phenobarbitol on July 1, 1996, one day before the anniversary of her grandfather's own suicide. She was a model and actress.
