David Copperfield starts in Blunderstone Rookery, a house in Suffolk England, but really is set all over. At different parts during the novel, Copperfield is in London, Yarmouth, Canterbury, and finally, Switzerland. "David Copperfield" is a story about struggle and the obstacles that David COpperfield overcomes. From the death of his mother, to his terrible time at the warehouse, David writes about all of it with a certain humility and individualism, saying at the beginning, "Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else these pages must show,"
