Chapter 22 Summary

One day on the way home from school, Marion, Shiva, and Genet are walking to the gate of the Missing compound when they see a couple racing up the hill, a child’s body dangling in the father’s arms. It is clear the couple is winded and beginning to falter, but they are both desperate to reach help. As long as they keep moving, somehow their child is alive to them and there is hope. As one entity, as ShivaMarion, the twins run to the couple and relieve them of their burden. Marion grabs the boy and runs, Shiva’s hand on the small of his back, propelling him on and prepared to take over if Marion cannot make it.
