As your question notes, Lenny learns many things as she develops into an adult. Lenny herself acknowledges all of the learning she’s doing when she explicitly states, “I have many teachers.”

One of her primary teachers is her nanny, or Ayah. Although, it doesn’t appear as if the lessons Lenny learns from Ayah are intentional. In other words, it doesn’t seem as if Ayah is purposely teaching Lenny about men, romance, and sex. Yet by observing Ayah and the way in which she interacts with her admirers, Lenny seems to pick up quite a bit.

One thing that she learns is that she has power to compel Ayah’s admirers to give her a massage. At one point, she kicks a masseur and makes him massage her legs and feet.

She also learns the intricacies of courtship, flirtation, and physical contact. As Lenny says:

I learn also to detect the subtle exchange of signals and some of the complex rites by which Ayah’s admirers coexist.

It seems like Lenny is eager to apply the knowledge that she gains from Ayah to an admirer of her own. When she asks to see her cousin’s scar and winds up holding his genitals, it seems like the scene is somehow connected to what she’s learned from Ayah.

Of course, her cousin teaches her other things as well. You might discuss how her cousin instructs her in gullibility and the power of electricity.
