- Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory" (1966) is one of the most touching Christmas tales ever written. Frequently featured in fiction anthologies, it is also part of his collection A Christmas Memory, One Christmas, & The Thanksgiving Visitor (1996), which can be purchased from Modern Library.
- Charles Dickens authored numerous novels that were both commercially and critically successful. One of his finest works is A Tale of Two Cities, first published in 1859. Set during the French Revolution, the story follows Sydney Carton's adventures and his ultimate sacrifice for his friends. This novel is also available on CD-ROM from Quiet Vision, released in 1999.
- Patricia Davis' novel A Midnight Carol, published in 1999, narrates the story behind the creation of Dickens' famous work. It depicts thirty-year-old Charles Dickens, burdened with debts and expecting a fifth child, as he somehow manages to write his most celebrated novel.
