If you could do something to change TV commercials what would you do?

If I had unlimited power, I would still not order any changes in TV advertising because I believe that Americans have the right to see commercials and to vote with their dollars as to what kinds of ads they like.  In other words, if ads are offensive, I would want people to simply refuse to patronize the companies that run them.

If I could have things the way I personally want them, however, I would ban ads aimed at children.  Children are too easily manipulated by advertisements and do not have the ability to distinguish between truth and the sort of fiction that ads contain.  They end up wanting too many things and feeling that their lives are or should be defined by what material things they have.  Of course, it is the responsibility of parents to help break them of these ideas, but it would be nice if commercials did not make it harder to do so.
