The words of Joel to Daniel can help us answer this question:
God is my strong refuge, And has made my way safe. He made my feet like hinds’ feet, And set me secure on the heights. He trains my hands for war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
The symbolic meaning of the bronze bow is that it is only through the love and strength of God that we can do anything. By ourselves, we cannot bend the bronze bow; we simply lack the strength to do so. What seems impossible now will always seem impossible without God's help and support. It is only through God's help, therefore, that the bronze bow can be bent. In other words, when God strengthens us, we can do anything we want.
These inspiring words are particularly applicable to Daniel's situation. This young man, this fanatical zealot, is eaten up by hatred of the Romans. And yet, through Jesus, he has been invited to follow a completely different path in life, one that leads to love and forgiveness.
Jesus has given Daniel the courage and the strength to change the whole direction of his life. This would've been impossible for Daniel to do on his own; he needed Jesus to bend the bronze bow, as it were, to make the impossible possible. The bronze bow, then, is a symbol of how Jesus helps Daniel—and many others like him—to do seemingly impossible things.
