"This Night, Before The Cock Crow, Thou Shalt Deny Me Thrice"

(Magill's Quotations in Context)

Context: In Jerusalem, Jesus partakes of the Last Supper, at which time He says that one of the twelve will betray Him, and then goes to the Mount of Olives. There He predicts that His disciples will fall away from Him, but that after His resurrection He will go before them into Galilee. When Peter declares that, even though all other men fall by the way, he will never forsake his Lord, Jesus says to him:

. . . Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciplines.
