"The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed Is Death"
Context: The basis of the Christian faith, Paul tells the Corinthians, is the resurrection of Christ, an event attested to by many witnesses. Even as the resurrection was accomplished for Christ, so is it for believers. Man has received death through Adam, the first man; eternal life he has received through the second man, Christ. At the end of time, the resurrected Christ comes again to the earth to subdue all authority and to deliver the kingdom to the Father:
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule, and all authority and power.
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
