"Can There Any Good Thing Come Out Of Nazareth?"
Context: Jesus, proclaimed by John the Baptist to be the long-awaited Messiah of Israel, begins His ministry by gathering a small group of followers, including Andrew, Simon Peter, and Philip. Philip seeks out Nathanael, who is a native of a town near Nazareth (the boyhood home of Jesus). The writer records the following conversation between Philip and Nathanael:
Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
