Student Question

Who became the leader in "Animal Farm" and why? Describe the animals' flag.

Quick answer:

Napoleon becomes the leader in "Animal Farm" after usurping Snowball's power. Initially, the pigs lead because they can read and write and originate the idea of rebellion through Old Major. Napoleon maintains power by convincing the animals that life under pig rule is preferable to human rule, despite its hardships. The animals' flag is a green tablecloth symbolizing England's fields, adorned with a hoof and a horn to signify animal independence.

Overall the pigs are the leaders of the animals, in the beginning because they could read and write, and also because it was old major, the prize winning pig, that had the idea.
