What developments do you anticipate in part 2 of 1984?

Quick answer:

In Part 2, Winston's defiance of the Party continues to escalate, marked by his illicit affair with Julia and his dangerous trust in O'Brien. His actions, including writing in a diary and renting a room without a telescreen, suggest increasing recklessness and a commitment to resistance. These developments suggest two possible outcomes: Winston either aids in overthrowing the regime or faces destruction by it. The sense of inevitability indicates a turning point where Winston's fate will be sealed.

Without wishing to spoil the rest of the story for you, there's a terrible sense of inevitability about what happens to Winston in the two remaining books. Up until now, Winston's been taking huge risks by defying the regime in his own little way. As well as confiding his innermost thoughts to a diary, he's also embarked upon an illicit affair with Julia, who despite her outward loyalty to the Party state, is committed to its overthrow. For good measure, Winston's starting to think that O'Brien might be one of the good guys, despite the fact that he's a senior state functionary and Winston doesn't actually know all that much about him.

are only two possible outcomes: either Winston will help to destroy the regime or he will be destroyed by it.

Really, this is a hard question for people on this site to answer.  We KNOW what's going to happen.  Let me give you some hints about how I think you should go about answering this:

First, think about what really important things have happened so far in the book:

  • Winston has started writing in a diary
  • He has taken a room that has no telescreen
  • He believes he is being followed by the thought police

So if these are the important things that have happened so far, try to think about what you expect will happen.  If these are the important things that have happened so far, surely something related to these will happen in the rest of the book.

So, this isn't the kind of thing that others can answer for you, but if you predict what you think will happen with those events that I mentioned, you should be able to come up with a good answer of your own.
