What type of historical questions should be included in preparing a paper about SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENTS?
One of the essential tools for any school building leader is that of assessment. School based assessments if conducted and implemented correctly can assist in promoting the academic achievement of the student body. In addition, it is important that school based assessments be data driven so that learning standards can be measured. I have included several assessment questions that over time can offer a significant historical overview of of a school building.
1. What is going to be assessed?
2. What educational goals should the assessment reflect?
3. How will the outcome of the assessment be measured against other students of the same grade level?
4. Is it a formal or informal assessment?
Of course after any school based assessment is given the administrators and teachers must reflect, review, and redefine their academic goals based upon the information from the assessment. Assessments should be interpreted as part of a process, which means that each school assessment year must be viewed as a 'checkpoint' where by subsequent years could be measured against. It is in this way that school assessments have the greatest potential for increasing a schools' learning capacity.
