I have a B.S. degree in Education, middle school and high school integrated social studies and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in middle school literacy. I also have a minor in history. I attended Kent State University in Ohio. My passion is to promote literacy among my students and to promote a love of history. I have taught 1.6 years of middle school social studies (world history and South Carolina history) and 3 years of high school social studies (world history, US history, government, and economics). I take an alternative route to teaching. My classroom is student centered and the students help teach the class; plus my students must keep an interactive notebook. They are a very effective at allowing my students to personalize the lesson and make it meaningful to them. I use a lot of graphic organizers as a way for students to take notes and it helps teach them how to summarize effectively. This is going to be my first year teaching world geography; I am very excited about that.
