Come learn the fundamentals of e-publishing at eNotes.com! We are proud to offer paid internships. Applicants must be available to work in our Capitol Hill location; should be interested in pursuing a career in publishing, education, or some related field; must be able to commit at least 10-15 hours per week; and finally, should display a strong work ethic and desire to keep learning.
Our freelance writers generate hundreds of pages of content every day, and our editorial staff oversees the process, fact-checking posts, perfecting prose, and turning an eagle eye on errant commas. Revisit your favorite books (and make sure they’re being proudly represented) and discover new favorites as you review submissions, help us generate content, and gain experience in the industry. Writers, readers, editors—welcome!
Tasks will include proofreading and copyediting material, hunting down questions students need answered, writing for the site, and supporting the editorial team as it tackles new projects. Ideal candidates are well-read, detail-oriented, and slightly paranoid about punctuation. Our site may be mighty (we had over 80 million different visitors in 2015 alone!), but our editorial team is small and close-knit. We know what our awesome interns are worth, and we value their opinions.
This is an in-office internship lasting for the duration of one school quarter. To join our team, send a resume and cover letter to the eNotes editorial staff at email@example.com.
Social Media and Marketing Internship
We are currently accepting applications for a Marketing Assistant to work closely with our Marketing Manager to assist in building our social followings (primarily Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest), connecting with students on Twitter and directing them to applicable homework help on eNotes.com, blogging, and other marketing/editorial tasks as needed. We're looking for someone who is a creative, outside-the-box thinker and can "speak student."
If you are energetic, excited to learn, and passionate about literature and nerdom, send a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Customer Service Internship
We are looking for interns to help the customer service department provide first-class support to our users. Tasks will include answering user emails, fielding phone calls, and live chatting online. You'll also support the human resources team as it tackles new projects. Ideal candidates are friendly, detail-oriented, and willing to go the extra mile to help out a confused student.
To apply, please email a resume and a cover letter to email@example.com.
Video Production Internship
We are currently looking for a Video Intern this summer to work closely with our Marketing and Editorial Manager to assist in creating several how-to videos, as well as creative and engaging video content (meaning both screencast videos and multi-camera videos). We're looking for someone who is able to use FCPX/Premier Pro, After Effects, and Camtasia.
To apply please email firstname.lastname@example.org your resume, video samples, and (optional) a few paragraphs about you, your goals for an internship/gig, and why you think eNotes is a good fit for you!
Writing interns are responsible for adding high-quality annotations to our vast and growing library. These additions can come from the writer's own knowledge or they can be sourced from existing material on eNotes.com. The kinds of annotations conform to several broad categories: contextual, literary devices, themes, character development, and more. In addition, all of the annotations are connected to specific reading objectives from the Common Core Standards for high school students. We welcome applicants who have a strong appreciation for a wide range of literature and love to write about books.
