And let y be the remaining balance on each of our gift card.
Since I bought a meal worth $5.50 each day, then my total spending for x number of days is 5.50x. So, the remaining balance on my gift card is:
As for my brother, he bought a meal worth $2.25 each day. So, his total spending for x number of days is 2.25x. Hence, the remaining balance of his gift card is:
