Your grandmother gave you and your brother each a $25.00 gift card from McDonalds. You purchase a Big Mac Extra Value meal each day for a total of $5.50 (including tax). Your brother prefers the dollar menu. Each day after school he spends $2.25 (including tax).

Write the equations using the above information that reflects the amount of money remaining on each gift card over time.

Graph both equations on the coordinate grid.

Let x be the number of days after we received the gift card.

And let y be the remaining balance on each of our gift card.

Since I bought a meal worth $5.50 each day, then my total spending for x number of days is 5.50x. So, the remaining balance on my gift card is:

`y= 25-5.50x`

As for my brother, he bought a meal worth $2.25 each day. So, his total spending for x number of days is 2.25x. Hence, the remaining balance of his gift card is:

`y = 25-2.25x`

And the graph of the two equations are:

(Note:  The blue line is the graph of y=25 - 5.50x. And the green line is the graph of y=25 - 2.25x .)

Y would be the money left and X is the days that you bought food

The sister would have y=25-5.50x because the inital value was 25 and you subtracted $5.50 per day(x)

The brother would have y=25-2.25x because he only spent 2.25 dollers a day
