If I were Chris, I think I would tell Joe to turn himself in to the authorities and to confess.  And I think that although Chris does not tell Joe this in the play, the general sentiment is that people need to be responsible for their actions and to realize that their actions impact other people.  Chris feels guilty himself because the other men in his company died while he lived, and he feels a sense of responsibility as a result.  So I, as Chris, would want my father to own up to his responsibility and take the punishment for shipping the faulty auto parts, especially since Steve (Herbert) Deever is still in prison serving time for Joe's wrongs.
