While I am not a hard core fan, I do enjoy the game of soccer. In fact when my oldest daughter was young, I coached their soccer team. Nothing big time, just a small youth team. What I have noticed most about soccer is the rabid fans it seems to bring to the forefront of the media's attention. Don't get me wrong, enthusiastic fans are important, but I have not seen very many instances of fans mobbing the field and rioting during events like they do in soccer.

It's very interesting that most Americans are not that interested in soccer. Our children play it, but we don't follow it as adults. The exception seems to be the World Cup, which is becoming quite popular lately in America.
